JOHOR BARU: PKR members have been reminded not to do any "self-sabotage" that could bring down the whole party.

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh likened the party to a ship, and if one person punches a hole in it, the whole vessel could sink.

"It was not easy to build this ship. We are all on the same vessel heading to the same destination.

"If we bring in our personal agenda, if we punch a hole in the ship – the whole ship may sink, including the person who made the hole.

"We can have differences in opinions and agree to disagree. When we fight, it is between siblings – we are not enemies," she said when launching the central PKR Youth and Women's congresses at a hotel here on Thursday (May 22) night.

She also called on party members to be agents who ensure that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim continues to lead the country for a second term as prime minister.

She reminded them to reconcile, consolidate and move forward once the PKR national congress ends.

"We have to put aside our differences because after the Sabah polls next year, followed by Sarawak, it will be the 16th General Election in 2027," said Fuziah, who proceeded to highlight the nation's economic performance under Anwar's leadership.

PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim and PKR Wanita chief Fadhlina Sidek were also present.

Both the Youth and Women's congresses will continue on Friday (May 23) with Adam Adli and Fadhlina's opening addresses, followed by debate sessions and winding-up by delegates.

Elections for the 2025-2028 central leadership, including the central leadership council, the youth leadership council and the women's leadership council, will be held from 8am to 5pm on Friday.

Anwar will deliver his address as PKR president, and officiate the PKR national congress on Friday (May 23) night.
