Vietnam PM calls on Dewan Negara president, Dewan Rakyat speaker


KUALA LUMPUR: Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday (May 25) called on Dewan Negara President Senator Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul at Parliament House here.

Chinh and his delegation arrived at about 5.40pm and were welcomed by Awang Bemee before holding separate meetings in their respective offices.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang was also present at both meetings, each of which lasted approximately 30 minutes.

The Vietnamese delegation included Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.

The meetings were held in conjunction with the 14th Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Leaders’ Interface 2025 (Asean-AIPA Interface), scheduled for Monday (May 26), with the aim of strengthening ties and cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam, particularly between the parliamentary institutions of both countries.

Later in the evening, Awang Bemee hosted a dinner in honour of Chinh and his delegation at a hotel here.

Chinh, who arrived on Friday (May 24), is in Malaysia for his first official visit to the country, ahead of the 46th Asean Summit, the Second Asean-GCC Summit, and the Asean-GCC-China Summit, all scheduled to take place here on Monday and on Tuesday (May 27). - Bernama
