PETALING JAYA: Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir has given no indication he will step down as Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister.
The Johor Baru MP, who is aligned to Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, Akmal described the resignation of both Rafizi and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad as hard to accept.
"However, they held onto their principles and kept their word," he said in a social media post on Thursday (May 29).
Akmal, who failed to defend his post as Johor Baru division chief but later was elected to the PKR central leadership council during the party polls, said both the party and the country had lost a progressive and futuristic front-line leader.
"All the lessons given by Rafizi will continue being a beacon for me to carry out my responsibilities throughout this term," he added.
On Wednesday (May 28), both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi submitted their resignations from the Cabinet after losing in the PKR polls.
Rafizi failed to defend his position as party deputy president, losing to Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Nik Nazmi also failed to retain his vice-president post.
