Vacant ministerial posts not discussed in meeting with PM, says Loke

PUTRAJAYA: A meeting has taken place between several ministers and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Yes, there was a meeting with the Prime Minister at 2pm," the Transport Minister told reporters after chairing the National Logistics Task Force (NLTF) meeting on Thursday (May 29).

When asked if the discussion was on filling the two vacant ministerial posts, Loke said the matter was not raised.

"I was not informed of any Cabinet changes," he added.

Anwar had said there would not be a Cabinet reshuffle following the resignations of Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

He said no decision could be made as both ministers are still on leave.

On Wednesday, Rafizi, who is also the Pandan MP, announced that he would step down as minister effective June 17.

He was followed by Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi, who said he would resign on July 4.

The resignations came after both failed to retain their posts as PKR deputy president and vice president respectively in the recent party polls.
