BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: At just six months old, Muhammad Ean Maleeq may be one of the youngest hikers in Brunei, joining his adventurous parents on forest trails across the country.
The baby boy of young couple Adizam and Dayangku Nur Alyaa has been a regular companion on light hikes since he was half a year old.
Now nine months old, little Ean has already explored popular hiking spots including Bukit Silat, Bukit Si Patir, Bukit Shahbandar and Tasek Lama.
Their outdoor adventures gained attention after Dayangku Nur Alyaa shared photos and livestreams on Instagram and TikTok, drawing praise from netizens for their family bonding and love for nature.
Some also reminded the couple of the importance of safety when hiking with a baby.
“We love bringing Ean hiking because it’s a fun way to spend time together as a family while enjoying the outdoors,” said his mother, adding that safety is always their top priority.
“We make sure we’re fully equipped before any hike.”
His father added that they were intentional about choosing easy trails and ensuring good weather conditions.
Ean is carried in a comfortable ergonomic back carrier, complete with a sunhat for protection.
“Introducing nature to our son at an early age was important to us,” he said.
Dayangku Nur Alyaa also emphasised the importance of preparation, noting that Ean remained calm and relaxed throughout their hikes – even dozing off at one point, lulled by the gentle breeze and birdsong. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
